Country bands, Americana songwriters and classic rock vets have all signed up for a November 12th concert honoring Lynyrd Skynyrd. Scheduled for the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, the tribute show — dubbed "One More for the Fans! Celebrating the Songs & Music of Lynyrd Skynyrd" — will also feature the iconic country-rockers themselves, as well as a house band captained by Grammy-winning producer and all-star session musician Don Was.

Forty years ago this week, the boys in Lynyrd Skynyrd were gearing up for the Nuthin' Fancy Tour, 132-date trek that took the band halfway around the world. "Sweet Home Alabama" had been released six weeks prior, and the group — recently armed with three lead guitarists, thanks to the arrival of Strawberry Alarm Clock co-founder Ed King — was firing on all cylinders. Everything changed in October 1977, of course, when a devastating plane crash decimated the band's ranks and forced Skynyrd to take a decade-long break. The band has toured and recorded on a semi-regular basis since reuniting in the late Eighties, albeit with a revised lineup of players.

Speaking of lineups, the roster of southern men, free birds and sweet home Alabamans who've signed up for the tribute show is pretty stellar. The list includes Trace Adkins, Alabama, Gregg Allman, Charlie Daniels, Peter Frampton, Warren Haynes, John Hiatt, Jason Isbell, Jamey Johnson, Aaron Lewis, moe, Govt Mule, Robert Randolph, Blackberry Smoke, Cheap Trick and Donnie Van Zant.

Tickets to "One More for the Fans! Celebrating the Songs & Music of Lynyrd Skynyrd" go on sale August 18th at CelebrateSkynyrd.com.

On Saturday, May 3, 2014, esteemed musicians and friends joined together for “The Musical Mojo of Dr. John: A Celebration of Mac & His Music”, a special concert event taping honoring this musical icon in his hometown of New Orleans. Taking place at the historic Saenger Theatre in the French Quarter, the concert paid homage to Dr. John’s illustrious songbook and featured once-in-a-lifetime collaborations from a lineup of prestigious and award-winning artists. This was Dr. John’s only New Orleans performance during Jazz Fest, with the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer taking the stage to perform with a number of special guests throughout the night.

ABOUT THE DR. JOHN
Dr. John, a six-time GRAMMY Award-winning musician and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, is known throughout the world as the embodiment of New Orleans’ musical legacy and is a true American icon. His colorful musical career began in the 1950s when he wrote and played guitar on some of the greatest records to come out of the Crescent City. Some of his many career highlights include the masterful album Sun, Moon and Herbs (1971) which included cameos from Eric Clapton and Mick Jagger and 1973’s In The Right Place, which contained the chart hits “Right Place Wrong Time” and “Such A Night.” In 2013, Dr. John won his latest GRAMMY Award for Locked Down, a collaboration with Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys. As further evidence of his musical diversity, Dr. John is currently completing an album in tribute to Louis Armstrong, which will be released in June of this year. After a half century of creating music for himself and others, Dr. John continues to write, arrange, produce and interpret with a passion that has yet to wane.
